Tuocha mini cakes provide a wonderfully convenient way to enjoy the exquisitely smooth and earthy flavours of Pu erh tea. To produce these little marvels, Pu erh tea leaves are steamed and compressed into little nests or mushroom-hat shapes that are aged for up to three years. The Tuocha are then individually wrapped to ensure the best possible result. This Pu erh tea belongs to the ‘Raw’ category, also known as ‘Sheng’.

Aged to perfection for two to three years, this delicately complex tea imparts a gloriously rich, russet liquor and a delightfully mild, sweet and earthy flavour that lingers in the mouth. To enjoy this most revered of teas, simply steep one Tuocha in near-boiling water for three to five minutes. To get the most authentic result, we recommend that you use a Gaiwan and follow the instructions in our Pu erh Brewing Guide.

Pu erh tea is made from large tea leaves that grow on trees and bushes in the mountainous area of Yunnan - the first tea region in the world. Some tea trees grow wild in this region and can be up to a thousand years old. Using ancient methods that have been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years, the tea leaves are carefully harvested, heat treated and sundried. They are then sent to specialist Pu erh producers who use age-old recipes to mix, steam and compress the leaves before aging.

Brewing Guidance: Use ca. 200ml of water per 3-4g of tea | Boil water to 100℃ | Steep for 3-5 minutes | See our guide on how to brew Pu erh tea.
